Each tablet contains
Norethisterone 10 mg
Mode of Action
It is a synthetic progestogen. It converts the Endometrium from the proliferative to the secretory phase. It may also have some oestrogenic, anabolic and androgenic activity though this may not be significant. Delays onset of periods and controls abnormal uterine bleeding. Negative feedback inhibition of pituitary Gonadotropin secretion which prevents ovulation.

- Postponement of periods
Dosage
Secam in secondary amenorrhea is given for 3 days. One tablet of Secam E with one tablet of Secam P at night on day 1 followed by the same dose for further 2 nights. Menstrual flow should start between 3rd and 5th day after stopping the tablets.

Contraindication
Cardiovascular disorders, pregnancy, severe liver functiondisturbances, vaginal bleeding of unknown cause, endometrial hyperplasia. Use with some caution in lactation.
