PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitors)

This is an antiulcer class of drug, which is more effective than others because it directly binds to the enzyme responsible for acid secretion, thereby providing consistent relief.

These include: Pantoprazole, Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, Lansoprazole and Rabeprazole,

There is no major difference in mode of action of various available PPIs. They differ only in their way of metabolism which results in the time taken for onset of action and the extent of Proton Pump blockage.

Rabeprazole

is a unique Proton Pump Inhibitor showing the fastest anti-secretory action. 95% of the Proton Pumps are inhibited in 5 minutes. Sustains high level of anti-secretory effect through day and night.

Rabeprazole is acid sensitive. It is administered as enteric coated granules

Domperidone

Is a benzaimidazole derivative which possesses prokinetic and antiemetic properties. It modifies Upper Gastrointestinal Motility.

It effectively increases oesophagial peristalisis and Lower Esophagial Sphincter Pressure, facilitates gastric emptying and decreases small bowel transit time.
