Cremag

Cremag is a Milk of magnesia and Liquid paraffin oral emulsion. A stool softener for relief from acute constipation and irregular bowel syndrome (IBS).It is a liquid laxative that provides relief in incomplete bowel movements and diverticulosis by easing bowel disorders.

Magnesium Hydroxide (Milk of Magnesia)

When taken orally as a laxative, the osmotic force of the magnesia suspension acts to draw fluids from the body and to retain those within the intestine. Serves to distend the bowel, thus stimulating nerves within the colon wall, inducing peristalsis and resulting in evacuation of colonic contents.

Liquid Paraffin

It acts as a lubricant and works by softening and lubricating the stools. This helps the stools to move more easily through the bowel.

Precaution

Avoid prolonged use as a laxative or fecal softener.Possibility of Anal irritation and seepage on excessive dose

Warning

Cremag is not recommended in pregnancy, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

Keep away from children. Not recommended for long term use.

Dosage

Adult & child over 12 yrs: 10-15 ml

Child 7 -12 yrs: 7.5-10 ml

Child 3 -7 yrs : 5–7.5 ml

Dose is best taken at bedtime preferably with water and if necessary, again in the morning or as reqd.
